Smooth, washable thermoformed trays avoid this problem. For plastic or metal parts with a special paint finish that must not be scratched on the way to the customer, the tray holds each part without touching the finished surface. This prevents scratches and other contact damage and eliminates the need for layers of bags or protective fabric between parts. For a connector with insulating resin oven-cured at 120 °C, the functional tray had to hold the product and also withstand the curing temperature.
